Transfer Orbits in the Earth – Moon System and Refinement to Jpl Ephemerides

چکیده
We describe how to determine transfers between libration point orbits and either the surface of the Moon or a Low Earth Orbit within the Circular Restricted Three – Body Problem (CR3BP) assumptions. Moreover, we explain how to refine such trajectories to ones verifing more comprehensive equations of motion. We are interested in seeing how the geometry of the nominal target orbits and of the associated stable manifolds drives the connections and also how much reliable the CR3BP is. The main tools we take advantage of are the Lindstedt–Poincaré semi-analytical method, differential correction procedures and an optimizer.

Low-Thrust Optimal Orbit Raising with Plane Change
A new guidance scheme for the problem of Low-thrust transfer between inclined orbits is developed within the framework of optimal control theory. The objective of the guidance scheme is to provide the appropriate thrust steering program that will transfer the vehicle from an inclined low earth orbits to the high earth orbits. The presented guidance scheme is determined using Pontryagin’s princi...
متن کاملSpacecraft Localization via Angle Measurements for Autonomous Navigation in Deep Space Missions
This paper deals with spacecraft autonomous navigation in deep space missions. The considered problem is that of spacecraft localization based on angular measurements. The dynamic model of the spacecraft accounts for several perturbing effects, such as Earth and Moon gravitational field asymmetry and errors associated with the Moon ephemerides. The measurement process is based on elevation and ...
متن کاملA numerical study on the existence of stable motions near the triangular points of the real Earth-Moon system A dynamical systems approach to the existence of Trojan motions
In this paper we consider the existence of stable motions for a particle near the triangular points of the Earth-Moon system. To this end, we first use a simplified model (the socalled Bicircular Problem, BCP) that includes the main effects coming from the Earth, Moon and Sun. The neighbourhood of the triangular points in the BCP model is unstable, as happens in the real system. However, here w...
متن کاملIndependent Analysis of the Orbits of Pioneer 10 and 11
Independently developed orbit determination software is used to analyze the orbits of Pioneer 10 and 11 using Doppler data. The analysis takes into account the gravitational fields of the Sun and planets using the latest JPL ephemerides, accurate station locations, signal propagation delays (e.g., the Shapiro delay, atmospheric effects), the spacecrafts’ spin, and maneuvers. New to this analysi...

Kakoi, Masaki Ph.D., Purdue University, May 2015. Design of Transfers from EarthMoon L1/L2 Libration Point Orbits to a Destination Object. Major Professor: Kathleen C. Howell. Within the context of both manned and robotic spaceflight activities, orbits near the Earth-Moon L1 and L2 libration points could support lunar surface operations and serve as staging areas for future missions to near-Ear...
